Highly experienced Chief Cook to join our crew on a Malta-flagged Oil Tanker.

  • Valid STCW documents
  • National Seamans book
  • Medical Fitness Certificate
  • Proven experience as Chief Cook onboard oil tankers or similar vessels.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and compliance.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent menu planning and adaptation skills.
  • Good knowledge of English language.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Culinary Management:
    • Plan and prepare well-balanced meals in accordance with dietary requirements and preferences.
    • Manage the galley, ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and compliance with food safety regulations.
    • Maintain inventory of provisions, and place orders to replenish supplies as needed.
  2. Menu Planning:
    • Develop diverse menus, taking into consideration dietary restrictions, cultural preferences, and the availability of fresh ingredients during voyages.
    • Adapt menus based on the duration of the voyage and the number of crew members onboard.
  3. Supervision:
    • Lead and supervise the galley staff, providing guidance on sanitation and safety procedures.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment within the galley team.
  4. Hygiene and Safety:
    • Adhere to strict hygiene standards and sanitation practices in the galley to prevent foodborne illnesses.
    • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols related to galley operations.

Working Conditions

  • This position is based onboard a Malta-flagged Oil Tanker engaged in cabotage operations in Italian waters.
  • The work schedule involves extended periods at sea (4 months).
