Chief Officer to join a Container vessel for one of the largest Container Shipping Companies.

Salary

  • 7470 USD/month
  • Seniority Bonus: 350 USD
  • Rejoining Bonus: 500 USD

Requirements

  • Previous experience in rank on Container vessels
  • Valid Chief Mate’s License or Certificate of Competency (COC)
  • Completion of relevant STCW trainings
  • Good health and physical fitness
  • Proficient in navigation, including the use of electronic navigation systems, radar, and other relevant equipment
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively coordinate with the ship’s crew, terminal operators, and authorities
  • Updated on international maritime regulations, industry best practices, and company policies

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for navigation and safe watchkeeping, ensuring the vessel follows a safe course, avoids collisions, and complies with navigational regulations.
  • Oversee the loading, stowage, and discharge of containers, ensuring proper weight distribution and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Manage the bridge team, coordinating activities during navigation, port approaches, and special operations.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures, conducting regular safety drills, and participating in emergency response activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of navigation, cargo operations, and safety-related activities.
  • Collaborate with the Master to plan efficient and safe voyages, considering weather conditions, navigational hazards, and fuel consumption.
  • Liaise with port authorities, terminal operators, and other vessels, ensuring effective communication and compliance with port procedures.
  • Supervise deck maintenance, including painting, inspection, and repair of deck equipment.
  • Implement security measures and protocols to ensure the safety and security of the vessel and its crew.
  • Contribute to the training and development of junior officers and deck ratings.
