Requirements
- Valid STCW documents
- National Seamans book
- Medical Fitness Certificate
- Proven experience as a Painter in a shipyard or maritime environment.
- Knowledge of surface preparation, coating application, and various painting techniques.
- Familiarity with different types of paints, primers, and coatings.
- Understanding of safety protocols and the ability to work safely in a dynamic shipyard environment.
- Physical fitness and stamina for tasks that may involve bending, lifting, and extended periods of standing.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and removing rust, old paint, or other contaminants to ensure proper adhesion of coatings.
- Apply primers, paints, and coatings using various methods such as brushing, rolling, or spraying to protect surfaces from corrosion and enhance the vessel’s appearance.
- Mask and tape off areas not intended for painting, ensuring accurate and neat application of coatings.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a secure working environment.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during painting activities.
