Requirements
- Valid OPITO certificates
- Medical Fitness Certificate
- Previous experience as a Roughneck on a drilling rig
- Good understanding of drilling operations and equipment.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform strenuous manual labor tasks in a demanding environment.
- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from Supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle rig floor equipment as required when performing tripping operations (drill strings, BHA, casings, liners, completions).
- Assist with routine maintenance of rig equipment.
- Maintain all tools in clean and safe condition and ensure they are returned to correct storage location (slips, elevators, safety clamps, rotary tongs, iron roughneck etc.).
- Maintain rig floor, sub-structure and associated areas in a clean and tidy condition.
- Assist Derrickmen/Pumpmen/Mud Mixers as required by Driller/AD.
- Assist with handling tubulars and all related equipment.
- Assist service companies specialists as required by Driller/AD.
- Attend and/or conduct as necessary all TRIC talks relevant to operations.
- Assist with move and installation of BOP and other wellhead equipment.
- Carry out shaker house duties in accordance with program, including replacement of shaker screens as required by Mud Engineer, Driller or Assistant Driller.
- Monitor fluid returns to shakers and report to Driller/AD cutting changes in size, shape and volume.
- Check and log fluid weight and viscosity and report any anomaly to Driller/AD.
- Maintain shaker deck log book accurately updated for handover purposes.
- Stand-in for alternative work discipline as required.
- Complete any other job related task as required by Driller/AD.
- Assist with area inspections as required.
- Report to Driller/AD any defect or anomaly.
- Ensure that all equipment and tools are properly stored upon completion of shift.
- Ensure accurate handover of on-going tasks upon completion of shift.
