Requirements

  • Previous experience onboard Oil Tanker is required
  • Possession of necessary certifications, including a valid Certificate of Competency (COC) as a 3rd Engineer
  • Good health and physical fitness
  • Thorough knowledge of the ship’s machinery, engine systems, and related equipment
  • Completion of relevant STCW trainings
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with other crew members and superiors
  • Understanding and adherence to international maritime regulations, safety standards, and company policies

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the ship's engine room, including propulsion systems, generators, pumps, and other machinery.
  • Stand engine room watch, ensuring continuous monitoring of machinery and systems, and responding to any alarms or abnormalities.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of engine room equipment under the supervision of higher-ranking engineers.
  • Oversee fuel transfer, storage, and consumption, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures, and participate in emergency response drills.
  • Maintain accurate records of engine room operations, maintenance activities, and fuel
    consumption.
  • Supervise, provide guidance, and lead the junior engineers and engine room ratings.
  • Assist in preparing the engine room for inspections and audits by relevant authorities or classification societies.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental protection regulations related to engine emissions and oily water discharge.
